'Kin Speak is something of a cork board, a home of virtual sticky notes, the authors of which are otherkin (people who identify as and/or feel that they are nonhuman). We're an anonymous medium for otherkin people to share their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and ideas in an environment free from anxiety about what others may say or think about them.

Re: sides of identity

You asked: Does the “human” side of you clash with the “other”? Or do they fit seamlessly together? (What a great question!)

I answer: mu.

The question doesn’t make sense when viewed through my experience. As well ask if my computer skills clash with my cooking skills, or if my right-handedness conflicts with my eye color.

Sometimes it is hard to squash down on a nonhuman reaction. Sometimes it is very hard to remember to act or react in a human way, but neither of those is an internal clash. Both are examples of my self meeting society’s expectations.

I do not clash with myself (not this way, anyway.) I can argue with myself just fine over other things, but in all cases it’s all of me - human-other - on all sides, not human here, other there.

I do clash with what people expect me to be.

But that is just one person’s experience; I am sure there are many more perspectives!
